Ansel Adams: The Man and His Style presented by Gillian Hannum and Jim Frank Wednesday, February 17, 2021 7:15 p.m.

The Stamford Photography Club is pleased to bring you a presentation by Gillian Hannum and Jim Frank:

Favorite SPC judge Gillian Hannum will speak about Ansel Adams’ background, the evolution of his style and his unique approach to the photographic medium as well as the role of pre-visualization. Gillian’s Manhattanville College colleague Jim Frank will add the photographer’s perspective by covering Adams’ Zone System and large format style.

Gillian Greenhill Hannum is Professor of Visual Studies and Art History at Manhattanville College. A photohistorian with MA and PhD degrees from The Pennsylvania State University, she has published on photographic topics in the Journal of the Royal Photographic Society (of Great Britain), History of Photography and Nineteenth Century. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain. She teaches courses in the history of photography, American art and modern art.

Jim Frank is a photographer and Professor of Communication and Media at Manhattanville College. Throughout his 40-year teaching career he has taught internationally at the Royal College of Art in London and in Spain. As a professional photographer, he has photographed over 10000 art objects for museums and historic homes and has been the art photographer for the Neuberger Museum of Art at Purchase College for 36 years.
