Three Images Score a Perfect 27 in Our March Club Competition
The Stamford Photography Club’s March Competition saw three images receiving a perfect score of 27 from our panel of three judges for this event. The three images are highlighted below, along with a short “behind the image” remark by the photographer:

This was taken on February 22nd at Shawangunk Grasslands NWR in Wallkill, NY…I have made multiple trips up here this winter to capture the Short-eared Owls and the conditions were looking good for this day so I made the trip…I decided to get off the viewing platform this time and it paid off…I went to the far end of the field and the was a Rough-legged Hawk flying close…Then before sunset there was this one Short-eared Owl that made head-on passes toward us…It must of made 6 or 7 roundabouts before the sun set, smoothing the light to capture this image as it was flying toward us…Was a really productive night and I have a few others to be rewarded with… ~Chris

This Image was taken in Kansas City during a workshop past November. It is a lighting setup with animals and old pieces of wood. The Workshop was given by Greg Basco a photographer from Costa Rica
The settings where if my memory serves me correct f08/shutter at 100 of a second and ISO 100 ~Carlotta

There’s something that I find so attractive about things as they are decaying. Peeling paint, rust, cobwebs and quiet stillness as it blankets places that were once so alive and vibrant. The odd thing is, upon second glance, these abandoned and decaying places are being taken over by new life as plants find a way in. Where Nature Sleeps is one example of this circle of life. Shot in upstate New York, moss is growing on a decaying bed in the stillness of the summer heat. I joked that you can almost smell this picture as these decaying materials are returning to their organic roots. Thank you to the judges for the perfect score! ~Susan
