From Rough to Refnied – The Creation of a Landscape Photograph on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00 pm

Bill’s presentation will examine the process by which a veteran
photographer conceptualizes the art and science of creating a finished landscape photograph.
Bill has been a photographer for more than 50 years. He is a multi-award-winning American visual artist and a member of Master Photographers International. Bill specializes in artistic photography. Bill studied with several internationally recognized artists including Sewell Sillman and Norman Ives of Yale University and The Silvermine College of Art and Guild of Artists; and the world-renowned colorist, Josef Albers, of The Bauhaus, Germany, and Yale University. His artistic interests involve the impact of color, light and composition to tell a thought-provoking story. Bill, a founding member of ArtPlace—the iconic artist’s cooperative and gallery in Southport, CT, was also a founding member of the Artists 12. He holds six university degrees including degrees in Fine Arts and Art Education and a Doctorate from Columbia University where he was named a Kappa Scholar for academic excellence. He has lectured and taught at Yale University, the University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University, the University of Bridgeport, and Western CT State University.

Bill’s work as an educator has been documented in five books and several professional journals and he was the recipient of a Connecticut Educational Leader of the Year award. The United Nations, U Thant Institute, has recognized him for his work promoting world peace.
